Honoring God’s Food Laws protects your health just as obeying His Commandments protects your soul and Matthew 5:17 KJV reminds you that all these laws remain in effect today:
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Christ Coming did not change Old Testament Law; His Coming fulfilled it. It did replace rituals and blood ordinances as by shedding His Blood He became a permanent sacrifice for all of time.
God’s Food Laws are good laws and they require your attention. They introduce you to a new way of cooking and eating and following them takes you to a new world of taste and health.
Fat has taste but Leviticus 11:16 KJV says that all fat belongs to the Lord and verse 17 confirms it:
It shall be a perpetual statute for your generations throughout all your dwellings, that ye eat neither fat nor blood.
Meat, being the number one source of fat, demands attention and buying range fed beef is a good place to begin as corn fed is marbled with fat. Before broiling your steak, trim all visible fat and when removing from the oven notice the grease drippings that have accumulated in the bottom of the pan; broiling as well as cooking over an open flame removes fat.
Your next step to avoiding fat is reading the labels on the food and drink that you buy. Do not concern yourself with fat free and low fat labeling but do make sure that the fat calories contained in each item is 10% or less of the total calories the item contains…Do the math!
Not that you were expecting it but Leviticus 11:26 KJV is going to describe unclean animals, you know, the ones that must be added to your “do not eat” list:
The carcases of every beast which divideth the hoof, and is not clovenfooted, nor cheweth the cud, are unclean unto you: every one that toucheth them shall be unclean.
Not chewing the cud makes pigs unclean; they are scavengers and they have no sweat glands. Without the ability to sweat, their poisons and impurities stay inside them; they go to the market with them.
Continuing with exclusions and unclean things, Leviticus 11:9 KJV describes those living in the waters:
These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat.
Without both fins and scales, catfish, shrimp and lobster are unclean. Bottom crawlers are scavengers while those swimming with fins and scales are clean.
