FAITH COMMENTARY
"Making a Choice "

God has placed you in your flesh body to enable you to choose between Him and Satan. It is not a choice that you must make; it is a choice that you will make. The decisions you make on a daily basis show your preference.

Living the life of a Monk is not a prerequisite for choosing God but misleading someone through deception, is choosing Satan.

When it comes to getting your attention, Satan has the pull of a magnet. This may explain why you have such a huge cheering section in heaven. Luke 15:10 KJV shows how much God’s angels are pulling for you:

Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

They cheer because repentance shows your love for God…something necessary for you to choose Him.

Satan is in the running and the pace quickens as he battles God for your attention. You know, he actually feels entitled to receive it. Before falling, Satan was the archangel Lucifer and Isaiah 14:12-14 KJV shows you his unfounded confidence; from the Mount of Congregation, he will claim to be God.

[12] How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

[13] For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

[14] I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

Boasting of being like God, (the Most High), contributed to his fall. The only reason that God keeps him around is to test you.

Satan certainly is one of your choices as Ezekiel 28:6-8 KJV tells you about his beauty and wisdom. You learn that, in his heart, Satan feels that he is taking God’s place.

[6] Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Because thou hast set thine heart as the heart of God

[7] Behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon thee, the terrible of the nations: and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall defile thy brightness.

[8] They shall bring thee down to the pit, and thou shalt die the deaths of them that are slain in the midst of the seas.

An admirable foe that God tells will be brought down to the pit…but Satan

listens not. Thinking that he will win you over, he is confident of taking God’s place.

On the bright side, you have another choice; God is patiently waiting. He takes pride in you, just as He does His other servants. You feel this as He boasts to Satan in JOB:1-8 KJV:

And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?

God takes notice when you stand by Him; He knows that He can count on you too. Like Job, though, you may be called on to prove He is right.

1 Tim. 2:4-6 KJV assures a fair contest; Christ is the mediator between you and God. Choosing God requires that you to come to the knowledge of the truth.

[4] Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

[5] For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus

[6] Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

Christ becoming your ransom guarantees you a fair choice; there was no other way!

God appreciates your confidence and in Rev. 3:10 KJV, He promises to help:

Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

In the hour of temptation, everyone will face the tempter, Satan. God rewards you by standing by you. With Him by your side, you will make the right choice.

Choosing Him shows your love and James 1:12 KJV is where God shows His appreciation:

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

There is a final point to be made about your other choice. Satan possesses more wisdom beauty and confidence than you can imagine; it is difficult to tell that he is not God. He has not accepted defeat and you can rest assured; he never will.

Your actions, not your words, show your choice.

Do you recognize that your choice is…a choice for keeps?
