Parables release secrets from God to you. This is why you cannot rely on someone to translate God’s Word for you; you do your own digging for the Truth.
You learn in Matthew 13:35 KJV that God stands ready to bring you out of the dark:
That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.
God, in His own time, opens your eyes to the truth.
You learn in Ezekiel 20:48-49 KJV that God communicates in parables:
And all flesh shall see that I the Lord have kindled it: it shall not be quenched.
Then said I, Ah Lord God! they say of me, Doth he not speak parables?
You must understand that parables are God’s favorite way to communicate with you; the manuscripts show its origin:
mashal, Hebrew 4912, Strong’s
mashal, maw-shawl'; apparently from Hebrew 4910 (mashal) in some original sense of superiority in mental action; properly a pithy maxim, usually of a metaphorical nature; hence a simile (as an adage, poem, discourse) :- byword, like, parable, proverb.
God uses metaphorical nature when teaching in the book of Revelation; it follows the same format that you use when teaching math to a child, using matchsticks.
Rev. 1:3 KJV shows the importance of understanding metaphors and parables:
Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.
Understanding Revelation is a blessing. Written two thousand years ago, it is like having God sit down with you to explain everything that is going on now. The time is at hand; God recognizes your attempt to understand.
Romans 16:25 KJV gets you set to gain your footing:
Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,
A footing is necessary! Prepare yourself; parables reveal God’s secrets to you and understanding them will bring a revelation into your life. You will soon be uncovering one of Christ’s parables with us.
Are you prepared to come out of the shadows? Reading a parable a day will do it; have you begun yet?
