"God is Your Best Friend"

To know your best friend you must understand Him. The better you understand Him, the closer you become. Speaking to you in scripture, your best friend gives you the opportunity to know Him better. You begin knowing God better in Genesis 1:27 KJV as He tells you that you are created “In His image:

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Being created “In His image” includes your feelings and His; they parallel each other. Joy and sorrow represent these feelings as they tell you that God is not a figurehead of worship. He is your best friend and you knowing Him brings Him joy.

Knowing Him better removes the distance that separates you from Him. You begin removing this distance in Psalm 22:16-17 KJV as David is praying the very words that Christ uses dying on the Cross.

For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands

The weight of His body was suffocating Him as He spoke these words. You feel His feeling as He tells you of His love from the Cross and you learn how close His feelings parallel yours. Philip. 3:10 KJV puts it this way:

That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

Knowing Him better draws Him to you and John 14:17 KJV illustrates the significance of this Truth: Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

Understanding scripture is the Spirit of Truth; 1 John 5:20 KJV shows you the connection between eternal life (loving Him) with knowing Him: And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

Understanding Him is required to love Him and Matthew 13:15 KJV is where you learn that there are those without understanding: For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

Your best friend wants to be close to you; is your heart waxed gross?

Your best friend wants you to hear Him; are your ears dull of hearing?
