“IF” is a condition that must be met if you are to receive the benefit of God’s Love. Surely, you realize that He requires your love for you to share heaven with Him. Love is an unselfish choice that brings rewards beyond your wildest imagination. Paul, in 1 Cor. 2:9 KJV, attempts to describe what is in store for you, “IF” you love Him. But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
Love is not automatic; it cannot be turned “on and off”. With your attention on the word “IF”, John 14:23 KJV explains the conditions necessary for you to receive His love: Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
The formula is simple: God’s Love is with you; He will come to you and abide in you…“IF” you love Him. Keeping God’s Word shows your love for Him; understanding it allows you to keep it.
God takes care of those who love Him; Psalm 145:20 KJV tells you what happens to those who do not: The Lord preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy.
Your love, or lack thereof, is being tested. God gives you ample time to show Him your love. The choices are simple: love Him, or not to love Him.
The adage “You cannot take it with you” brings another “IF” into focus that is…“IF” you allow worldly things to consume you. Ask yourself, am I placing too much emphasis on worldly things; do they interfere with my love for God? 1 John 2:15 KJV addresses this issue: Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
Things of the world compete for your attention however, God will not settle for second best. He is jealous; Exodus 34:14 KJV tells you that His Name is Jealous:
For thou shalt worship no other god: for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God: God is competing for your love! Why would you allow earthly things to interfere with loving Him? James 1:12 KJV describes your rewards for resisting temptation and remaining faithful to Him: Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
You are being tried; are you putting forth your best effort? The action you take will let God know “IF” you love Him.
