"Gods armour handles Satan"

We are involved with two spirits in our daily lives:

(1) Satan’s evil spirit

(2) God’s Holy Spirit

It is important that we understand both evil and good so today we will be giving Satan a little more attention in an effort to better understand his world of darkness. Understanding his strengths and weaknesses puts us in a better position to deal with his nonsense while helping us stay on the straight and narrow.

Keep in mind that God is in charge as He gives authority to Satan; authority that Satan is using to test us. God also tells us how to combat this authority as we go to Ephes. 6:10-13 KJV for His instructions:

[10] Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

[11] put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

[12] For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

[13] Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

We are not wrestling flesh and blood because our battle is against the ruler of darkness… Satan. God’s Armour provides everything we need to battle this spiritual wickedness. We take our stand against this evil power in high places as God’s Armour cuts him down to size.

Daniel’s prophesy in 8:23-24 KJV informs us that Satan, the king of darkness will take his stand:

[23] And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.

[24] And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.

It is in darkness that Satan takes this stand while this prophecy unfolds right before our eyes. The battle has begun as we fight this mighty power but as the verse say’s: it is not his power… Satan only has the power that we give to him! This power allows him to reach and destroy God’s holy people. Luke 22:52-53 KJV illustrates that Satan works against us in holy places. Christ says:

[52] Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves?

[53] When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth

no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.

Christ is addressing the priest and elders from the temple whose only purpose for being there was to make certain that the Romans crucified Him. It was at the age of twelve that Christ had been teaching them in the temple where He had amazed them with His knowledge. Now, Christ is letting them know that this is their hour; their hour to join Satan in his power of darkness.

God continues to show us how to battle this wicked one of dark places as we return to Ephes. 6:16-17 KJV. His instructions read:

[16] Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

[17] And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Our armour includes the Shield of Christ that will quench all fiery darts that the wicked toss our way. The helmet of salvation and the Sword of the Spirit will complete our suit of armour. Many refer to the Sword of the Spirit as putting on the Gospel Armour because it is the Word of God. Knowing the Word of God is the Armour that protects us from the evil one as knowing His truth will defeat Satan.

God’s Truth is wisdom and Satan cannot handle the truth; he only understands deception. God’s Armour keeps him away from us as Satan steers in a different direction.

Luke 10:18-19 KJV further illustrates why Christ is our Armour:

[18] And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.

[19] Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Christ is the Word and the Word is our Armour! In Christ name, we have power over Satan and what we must do is claim it.

God’s word gives us a simple formula of how we are to deal with Satan.

Do we declare Satan as our enemy?

Are we ready to put on the Gospel Armour?
