"DISCIPLINE DELIVERS"

Discipline is something that is missing in the lives of most people and it is important for you to make certain that you are not included amongst them.

You are learning that DISCIPLINE DELIVERS and that it happens because God rewards those who exercise it; He anticipates you diligently working to include it in your life.

Discipline's importance cannot be overemphasized and by utilizing your Strong's Concordance you learn how it rates with God. Exercising discipline is atop His list and now you observe its use by seeing it transliterated from the Hebrew Manuscripts to your King James Bible.

Your Strong's shows that the Hebrew name for "discipline" is "yāsar" and by transliterating it, you see its use:

A primitive root; to chastise, literal (with blows) or figurative (with words); hence to instruct :- bind, chasten, chastise, correct, instruct, punish, reform, reprove, sore, teach.

Your King James shows that discipline is utilized forty three times, twenty one showing it being used to exercise chastisement and the remaining twenty two as binding, correcting, punishing, reforming, reproving or teaching.

Discipline is strong medicine and strong medicine is what you need to stay on track.

Exercising discipline is a serious business and viewing it from another angles will assist you in seeing that. Webster’s, when defining it, shows it overlaying Strong's transliteration:

Teaching: training or experience that corrects, molds, strengthens, or perfects especially the mental faculties or moral character

Webster's is showing that exercising discipline perfects your mental faculties and moral character. Are these factors that show Discipline Delivers?

Returning to your bible, Matthew 23:23 KJV picks up with Christ disciplining the Scribes and Pharisees:

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

Christ chastising scribes is helping them and you too, when chastising family members, also help them.

Job 36:10-12 KJV is another place where you see God encouraging the use of discipline:

[10] He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.

Opening your ear is God making you

aware of discipline's importance and He expects you to exercise it; obeying and serving Him does that:

[11] If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasure.

The rewards of exercising discipline is obvious and in the next verse you see what not exercising it gets you:

[12] But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.

Exercising discipline can be compared to drinking from the Lord's Cup and Matthew 20:23 (KJV) addresses you doing this:

And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father.

Drinking from the Lord's Cup requires both attention and discipline and exercising it baptizes you with the Baptism of Christ.

Discipline Delivers and you now ask: Am I following the example of discipline and baptism that Christ set for me?

Will I experience the benefit of discipline delivering me to the right hand of The Father?
