Is God’s Word directing your life by providing a track for you to follow? It will inspire you for it is the only track that can lead you to happiness. God’s Word also provides the inspiration and momentum that you need to stay on track.
Inspiration comes from understanding His Word, and it inspires you to obtain happiness through serving Him. This may cause you to ask: “How does it work and what is the meaning of the word, “inspired”?
Webster’s Third Edition gives the etymology and definition:
Etymology:Middle English inspiren, enspiren, from Middle French & Latin; Middle French inspirer, enspirer, from Old French, from Latin inspirare, from in- 2in- + spirare to breathe * more at SPIRIT
1 a archaic : to breathe or blow into or upon b archaic : to infuse (as life) by breathing *inspired into him an active soul Wisd Sol 15:11* c obsolete : to breathe or blow (as air or vapor) into or upon something
2 : to draw in by breathing : breathe in : INHALE *inspiring
1 : to impart inspiration
2 obsolete : BREATHE, BLOW
3 : to draw in breath : inhale air into the lungs
“To infuse (as life) by breathing” tells you that God’s Word is inspired…it breaths life into you! You have become inspired by the new path that His Word creates for you. 1 Peter 2:2 KJV compares you to a newborn with a need to be fed (His Word):
As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
Reading with understanding gives you spiritual growth; it is God’s method of feeding you. You cannot, however, take understanding for granted; Amos 8:11-12 KJV describes the difficulty you face:
Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord:
And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, and shall not find it.
The famine is for hearing His Word, which brings up the question: “Am I reading with clarity? Am I seeking His Word and not finding it?” You want to avoid this category.
Getting on track requires gaining a footing. You begin by acknowledging Him and letting Him know that you lack understanding. Not only will He hear you but in Proverbs 3:6 KJV you see that He directs your path.
