"Seeing the Light of Christ"

We look back and see that this New Year can offer opportunity for improvements in our quality of life. This is obtained by committing to a closer walk with Christ which occurs when we become better acquainted allowing his light to shine within us.

Christ describes this pathway of light in John 08:12 KJV:

“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”

Christ clearly invites us to come into the light and steer clear of everything darkness provides. Jesus continues his point in John 11:09 KJV “Jesus answered:

Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.” Christ brings clarity to this point in John 12:35-36 KJV:

[35]“Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light.

[36]These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.”

This new year provides us with the pathway to light…a year to see where we’re going.

Additionally, the light of Christ provides us with “eyes to see” and “ears to hear”. Christ invites us into this arena of understanding as illustrated in Matthew 13:15 KJV:

“For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.”

Here Christ clearly is speaking of our spiritual eyes and we must do everything within our power to open them. The apostle Paul further illustrates quoting the words of Christ in Acts 26:18 KJV:

“To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.”

Christ is making the connection that “open eyes” are a spiritual reality.

God also addresses this important subject through the prophet Ezekiel as Ezekiel 12:1-2 KJV: reads:

[1] “The word of the Lord also came unto me, saying,

[2] Son of man, thou dwellest in the midst of a rebellious house, which have eyes to see, and see not; they have ears to hear, and hear not: for they are a rebellious house.”

Both the old and new Testaments make clear that we need to understand God’s word by opening our spiritual eyes and ears.

Lastly, we examine the importance of allowing our spiritual eyes and ears to open a lighted path of communication. Christ continues to illustrate the significance of this important subject in:

Matthew 11:15 KJV “He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.”

Matthew 13:9 KJV “Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.”

Matthew 13:43 KJV “Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.”

Mark 4:9 KJV “And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.”

Mark 4:23 KJV “If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.”

Mark 7:16 KJV “If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.”

Our quality of life will improve this year as we take advantage of this channel of communication with God. He has made his position clear to us! We need to do the same with Him as we pray for His direction and guidance.
